Fighting One Nation’s far-right insurgency

The latest episode of Red Flag Radio is all about the breakthrough of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party. Chloe and Emma discuss why this far-right party has started polling upwards of 30 percent not by moderating their politics but by doubling down on all the fascist talking points of the global far right. Hanson’s Press Club speech was revealing: she railed against workers, migrants, trans people, mothers on parental leave and climate science. She called for Australia to become a “monoculture” and to “dig baby dig”.

They discuss some of the debates about how to respond to the rise of Hanson, from calls to understand the “legitimate concerns” of One Nation voters, to supporting the Labor Party come election time. They also talk about how the socialist left can get organised to take on Hanson and the system that created her.
